<p>Over the last three decades, video games have changed a lot. Although we’ve traded pixelated sprites for high resolution computer graphics, and chiptune music for sweeping orchestral scores, some things will remain forever constant. Princesses will always need saving, keys will always be hidden near their corresponding locks, and red barrels will always explode. The following video, produced by the 8Bit Proof guys, pays special tribute to the purest and perhaps most underrated gaming mechanic of all time.</p>
