Rainbow Six: Siege Says Hello From France with The GIGN

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege is due to break down your door this fall, but before it does, it wants to let you in on just who’s going to be doing it. Meet the French men and women of the GIGN.

The GIGN, or National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale in French), is a France’s largest and most successful counter-terrorism unit. Created in 1973 and re-organized at the turn of the millennium, the GIGN’s become one of the most effective hostage rescue/anti-terror forces in the West. They’re also ready to kick down some doors in Rainbow Six.

The GIGN brings with it expandable shields, remote drones, and a specialized ‘DOC’ pistol to incapacitate enemies with a jolt. In addition, the team comes armed with ‘rook’ bullet proof vests that can handle the punch of an assault rifle. The GIGN joins the likes of the British SAS, the Russian Spetsnaz, the German GS6-9, and the American FBI.

Rainbow Six: Siege is out this Oct. 13th for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Windows for PC.
