Rayman Origins will continue to live on in Rayman Legends, as series creator Michel Ancel confirmed to Shacknews that 40 or so levels from Origins have been remade for Legends‘ unlockable ‘Back to Origins’ chapter.

The updated levels were originally made for the Wii U version of the game, since Rayman Origins never released for that system, but now it will come to the Xbox 360, PS3 and Vita in addition to the Wii U.

“It’s a way for those players to play the game in HD,” said Ancel in regards to Wii U players. “And because it was already done, we gave them away for free.”

The remastered levels will utilize the lighting engine found in Legends and the Wii U and Vita versions also have touch controls for new character Murfy.

Rayman Legends is set to release on September 3rd.
