Razer Enters the High End Mic Game With the Seiren Elite

As some of you know, Colby and I do a podcast called Gaming Historia here on BagoGames. We are also working on getting our YouTube and Twitch streams up and running at a very frequent clip. For those that have no interest in this side of the business, there is one thing that is very important for all of this and that is the microphone. If you listen to our first podcast and then listen to the second one immediately, you should notice a difference in quality? Why? Well, the first podcast was recorded with a headset and mic. The second with a Blue Yeti.

A Blue Yeti is essentially a radio-style microphone with a ton of features that gives significantly better quality. There are a ton of competitors out there, but Blue has the market visibility better than nearly anyone else. While Audio Technica produces fantastic microphones, the Yeti is more readily available when you head to your local electronics retailer. All this leads to a new competitor in the market, one that most gamers will recognize; Razer.

The Razer Seiren Elite seems to be the real deal if this video has anything to say about it. The Razer Seiren Elite is specifically designed for streamers and YouTube content creators alike. A few of the features included are a what you would expect from high-end microphones such as a single dynamic capsule, inbuilt high-pass filter and most importantly a digital/analog vocal limiter that will help control the volume as you get excited, start screaming or get too loud during exciting game moments.

The one concern here is the price. It may be worth every penny but as a competitor with Yeti and other similar microphones the price may make or break how successful it is. Priced at $199.99 USD, it is nearly double the price of other similar mics. Again, until we can get our hands on it and run it through its paces we can’t say if the price is generous or expensive, but for now, we expect a solid entry into the hardware field.
