Jools Watsham from Renegade Kidd spent some time today do discuss his studios recent project for the 3DS called Treasurenauts. The game will feature eight different character types from which some are heroes, bandits, and misfits. When choosing a character you can choose what they character looks like plus what type of weapon they will carry. Weapon choices are bombs, guns, or a sword and each have varying levels of strength when put aside other ones. Treasurenauts will be less 8-bit like Mutant Mudds was and will go more towards the 16-bit legacy of games along with its music that accompanied it.
The game’s main map is a treasure map that is akin to the World Map in Super Mario World. Once you finish a level then it is marked on the map so you can move back to it if you choose to replay it. There will be local multi player plus download play support and in co-op mode you share both health and wealth. Reminiscent of the New Super Mario Bros. series you can work together to push certain buttons to make it past obstacles or you can give each other a boost to reach high level areas. When you defeat a boss your character can obtain new abilities. Finally, there will be multiple endings based on the decisions you make in the game.
