RE: Revelations 2 Receives a CO-OP Open Beta for PC

Resident Evil Revelations 2 has received quite negative media attention surrounding it’s release, for those that aren’t aware of the problems specifically on the PC side of things here’s a bit of background.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 was reported to have offline COOP originally on the Steam page at least. Which Capcom removed around it’s release with the following message at the bottom of the description. Which reads.

“1. Raid Mode online co-op functionality to be added at a later date.
2. The PC version does not support offline co-op play in the Campaign or Raid Mode.”

Originally the Assistive COOP section listed within the features said the following.

“Assistive co-op play — Players will need to switch between the two characters (Claire/Moira, Barry/Natalia) to overcome the nightmares in either single player mode with an AI partner or offline co-op.”

However the main objective of this article is to point out that Capcom has gone back to the drawing board and wants to add offline COOP back into the game with an OPEN BETA?

The OPEN BETA announcement was posted and added as a sticky thread to the official recent updates section for the game on the Steam Forums by user “WBACON [CAPCOM]” with the title “Revelations 2 Open Beta Now Available” which states the following. Click image to enlarge.

This would be grand if said BETA was actually under the list for BETA options under the properties menu to start with.

As you can see there is no BETA listed, a hidden BETA is not or should not be considered as an OPEN BETA. Now to get the BETA you have to go to properties – betas and type “inbhr2qasplitmaster00″ which is case sensitive. Once you do that the BETA will appear as “[qa_split_master]”. I wanna say they are playing on the phrase PC Master Race but I won’t get into that 🙂

There is  also another mention of the BETA on the recent updates section of the community hub for the game which indicates something rather different.

So adding a BETA patch, which was just introduced today as of 03/03/2015, and saying the BETA is an OPEN BETA would imply you don’t have to put in a secret code before it will show up in your list of BETA options. That just makes me feel real weird.

Two competing answers on the same topic.. no wonder the original description was a mess to start with. Capcom if you have one goal but are explaining it in multiple ways, one says you have it up and the other says it will be up… make up your mind.

This whole deal with Resident Evil Revelations 2 has been a nightmare.. give me online COOP or LAN COOP and we can call it a day, oh while your at it add REAL COOP to the first Revelations game thanks. I am on PC I don’t use split screen COOP blahhh.
