The upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s story was still somewhat of a mystery. The game looks beautiful and seems to be more focused on tombs than the previous entry, but with this new launch trailer the story seems fully explained. Watch it above to see why Lara Croft is going on her tomb raiding expedition and what exactly is the catalyst for her next adventure.
The Trinity are hunting Lara down this time as she hunts for the secret to immortality – a secret which her father obsessed with for the better part of his life. Here you can see Syria and Siberia, which are two locations that will house Lara’s hunt for her father’s obsession. The last game ended with Lara realizing her father’s stories were more than just stories, and this trailer demonstrates the willingness she has to believe in the myths her father taught her, after the events she faced on Yamatai. The song featured in the trailer is Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O’s original song for the game, “I Shall Rise”.
Rise of the Tomb Raider comes to Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 10th, 2015. It will arrive on PC in Q1 2016 and on PlayStation 4 in Q4 2016.
