Who watches the watchers? Why, Frank West from his very own zombie watchtower.
Legendary Pictures has revealed that none other than retired marine, comedy news reporter, and actor Rob Riggle of The Daily Show fame will be playing photojournalist and part-time zombie-slayer extraordinaire Frank West.
Riggle joins Aleks Paunovic (This Means War), who will play Logan, leader of a biker gang. His sidekick Pyro, will be played by Harley Morenstein (Epic Meal Time). Finally, Keegan Connor Tracey (Bates Motel, Once Upon a Time) will play a fellow journalist by the name of Jordan.
The Zach Lipovsky directed film (Leprechaun: Origin) will also star Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die, Dallas), Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time, Vampire High), Virginia Madsen (Sideways, The Number 23), and Dennis Haysbert (24, Wreck It Ralph).
The film, entitled Dead Rising: Watchtower will take place during a zombie outbreak as per the series schtick, and all clues point to Zombrex (the fictional zombie infection-fighting drug)
Watchtower is planned as a direct-to-video release on Crackle in the United States, so no hope of a super-sized zombie infestation on your IMAX screen. Following the exclusivity period, the movie will be released for digital download and on disc.
