Ron Gilbert to open PAX Australia

It has been announced that renowned video game designer Ron Gilbert will open PAX Australia in July 2013.

The Penny Arcade Expo, a.k.a. PAX, is a video games festival which has been held in several locations across the United States of America since 2004, with the upcoming PAX Australia marking the first time that the Penny Arcade Expo will have been held outside of the USA. PAX Australia is set to be the biggest gaming festival held in Australia, and both 3-day passes and Saturday passes have already sold out.

According to the press release, Ron Gilbert is set to provide “the opening ‘storytime’ keynote on the Friday morning.” Gilbert is a highly acclaimed figure within the video game industry, being the co-creator of classic games such as Maniac Mansion and The Secret of Monkey Island. His most recent game is the digital-only platform adventure The Cave, which he created at developer Double Fine Productions.

Run by ReedPOP, in conjunction with Penny Arcade, PAX Australia will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from 19th-21st July, 2013.
