Rumor: Michael Fassbender Next in Line for Steve Jobs Role?

Michael Fassbender

Following on from the announcement that Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale had dropped out of the upcoming biopic focusing on Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, it seems that the next target to portray the technological inventor and entrepreneur is none other than Michael Fassbender.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is adamant on keeping on course for production of the film to start this winter — screenplay writer Aaron Sorkin already confirmed this time frame when he discussed Bale’s involvement in the film last month — and it seems that Fassbender’s involvement with the X-Men franchise means he can fit in with the schedule required for the biopic.

Based on Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography Steve Jobs, the film will follow the life of one of the most successful and influential men in technology, with recent reports suggesting that actor and comedian Seth Rogen is expected to assume the role of Steve Wozniak, who was also a co-founder of Apple and Jobs’ right-hand man.

With big-name actors such as Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio having been attached with the biopic before dropping out, it’s safe to assume that Fassbender would be more than an excellent choice to replace them for the role of Steve Jobs.

Directed by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, Jobs is rumored for release in 2016.
