Rumor: Is Someone Making a New 52 Superman Game?

Batman may very well be the superhero we need on the gaming scene, but he’s hardly the only one we deserve. While the final chapter in the Dark Knight’s Arkham franchise has come to a close, many fans have been daydreaming about soaring into a Superman game next. Now rumor has it that the Man of Steel might be returning to the gaming scene from Batman alum.

Thanks to a mysterious screenshot posted to NeoGAF, fans have begun speculating that a new Superman game may be in the works – possibly from Warner Bros. Montreal, according to some accounts. The studio most notably developed 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel of sorts to Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The screenshot you see above includes a look at Superman dressed in his New 52 costume and a short bio that appears to be your standard Superman spiel. In the New 52 comic series, Superman was rebooted as a superhero with all the same powers, but significantly more vulnerable to hazards besides Kryptonite.

The button prompts suggest an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller is being used here and the “toggle skin” menu seems to suggest that Superman could be coming in a variety of forms, should the game exist. Whether the game would be based around Superman’s New 52 adaptation could also be called into question if the costume shown is just an additional skin and not the game’s main version.

In the meantime, we’ll let you know as soon as we have confirmation about what this all means.

As Comic Con and Gamescom approach later this year, we’ll see just how long we’ll have to wait for Superman’s return to the small screen. What do you want from a new Superman game? Let us know in the comments below.
