If you have been paying attention to the rumor mill lately, you have no doubt hear rumors of a new xbox being revealed sometime next year. The rumors have started to take a different form lately. As we reported earlier the next Xbox hardware may not be the massive generational leap people have been expecting, according to anonymous blogger MS Nerd, who posted some information on Reddit. The new rumor is that the next console will be a stripped down version of the current Xbox, which will concentrate on “Arcade-style games” and Kinect apps. This is the same ARM-powered console MS Nerd discussed in November of last year. The device is apparently slated for a late 2013 launch and is supposedly “price-competitive” with Apple TV.

The “true successor” will launch sometime after, with the same media apps and support for more of a core gaming experience. The next generation of Kinect will supposedly launch sometime in 2015. Current rumors of the next Xbox launch estimate a new device any time from later this year to some time in 2014 or beyond. Microsoft has stated that there will be no discussion of a new Xbox at this years E3.
