Run Dorothy Run Comes to PSVR February 20

The virtual reality endless runner, Run Dorothy Run, debuts on Playstation VR February 20th, 2018. HTC Vive and Oculus Rift releases are also expected before the end of the month. At a price tag of $29.99, Run Dorothy Run is designed for both casual and experienced gamers. Virtro Entertainment, the female-led VR focused indie studio based in Canada, has high hopes for the virtual reality industry.

According to a statement from Virtro Founder and CEO, Jordan Brighton: “In a very short time frame – essentially only a year since the first wave of consumer-ready VR consoles debuted – we’re seeing the transition from early demo-like VR experiences to longer, more in-depth, and rich storytelling experiences”. She continues by reiterating the team’s pride in crafting a more fleshed out VR experience. “of course, we had to address the technical challenges relating specifically to VR development – we’ve had over 1,000 participants playtest the game and its mechanics to overcome any potential motion discomfort, but we also spent just as much time crafting the storyline, testing the ‘jokes’, and perfecting the synchronization of the music”.

Players can contact jordan@vitro.ca to chat with the game’s designers and request a pre-launch key. Gamers will control Dorothy as she endlessly runs through the Emerald Palace gathering crystals and fighting enemies. Three difficulty settings are in place to facilitate both “Grandmas” and “Game Gurus”.

Virtro Entertainment is a team of ten, based in Vancouver, Canada. Founded by Jordan and Lee Brighton, the studio designs accessible VR titles by blending game mechanics, art, storytelling, music, effects, and current generation VR technology. Virtro is a newly formed company with only two other projects. The first of these is ChompAR, an augmented reality experience that involves dragging a chomper through the environment with your phone and feeding it food. Their other title, Zombie Donuts, is a tongue-in-cheek shooter about blasting away hordes of zombified donuts with a marshmallow blaster.
