Deep Silver & Volition hosted a voice acting panel at Comic-Con over the weekend that featured not only studio head Steve Jaros, but also a few of Saints Row IV‘s own voice actors, such as Troy Baker (default male voice), Laura Bailey (default female voice), J. B. Blanc (alien overlord Zinyak) and Yuri Lowenthal (Matt Miller, Professor Genki).
Now, you may not have expected a VA panel to give any big details about Saints Row IV, but that’s exactly what happened, including information regarding the game’s first DLC add-on, Enter the Dominatrix.
The once-upon-a-time Saints Row: The Third add-on will now release 45 days after Saints Row IV launches and features a ‘behind the scenes style narration’ with various characters explaining why the DLC was cut from the last game. But that’s not the only bit of news the VA panel dropped.
You may recall that Johnny Gat will be making a return to the series, and while some of us may not care about why or how he came back, we’ll be getting a ‘satisfying explanation’ regardless. Additionally, an old gang from Saints Row 2, the Ronin gang, is back, with some of its members set to make appearances, and Zinyak will read the first chapter of Pride and Prejudice in it’s entirety over the in-game radio for the first part of the game.
Unfortunately, some things won’t be pulling a Gat and coming back, as it was confirmed that the pro-wrestling gang and the zombie voice are out, with Jaros stating that a good joke is only funny once. But hey, Nolan North voice option, right? And we get to have superpowers and a Dub Step gun, which, in my opinion, is a fair trade off.
Saints Row IV is set to release on August 20th.
