It’s been nearly three months since Ubisoft killed Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s companion app and now it seems even less likely that this year’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will feature one in the first place.
Eurogamer reports that the franchise’s latest entry won’t include any mobile app features, whether for unlocking these pesky blue chests of Unity‘s or anything else, for that matter. Talking to the site, a spokesperson of Ubisoft’s confirmed that “…The team wanted to focus all their efforts on the core experience.”
Of course, there’s no word on whether companion apps may return for future series entries. But if you’re looking to roam the mean streets of London without ever looking down at your phone, then you’re in luck. The game will also drop the series’ trademark multiplayer in favor of an exclusively single-player experience.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will take players to Victorian London in the year 1868 this October 23rd only on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’ll star Jacob Fry and Evi Fry, two siblings recruited into the Assassin Order intent on retaking the city from the Templars while building their own army of assassin gang members.
