Jack Tretton, SCEA CEO has gone on record while speaking with industry analyst Michael Pachter that he “opposes” blocking second hand games on consoles.

While speaking on GT’s Bonus Round, Pachter said he asked Tretton directly if the rumors about blocking used games on the next console were true. Tretton’s response was that he was “opposed to blocking used games” and that they were “great for consumers” and blocking them would be “anti-consumer.”

Although that is Tretton’s view, he did admit that “Japan might think something different.” While the issue of blocking used games in the next-gen consoles is a hot one, it can’t hurt that the CEO of part of the PlayStation business has officially gone on record stating he was against blocking used games.
