Scourge: Outbreak to Release on PSN “in a couple of months’ time”

<p>In a <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;blog&period;us&period;playstation&period;com&sol;2012&sol;08&sol;06&sol;scourge-outbreak-infecting-psn-soon&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">recent post<&sol;a> on the PlayStation blog&comma; Lead Game Designer of Tragnorion Studios&comma; Omar Salleh announced that their upcoming game <em>Scourge&colon; Outbreak <&sol;em>is being prepared for release in a few months&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;Since our announcement in May about the upcoming release of our third-person shooter <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;blog&period;us&period;playstation&period;com&sol;tag&sol;scourge-outbreak&sol;">Scourge&colon; Outbreak<&sol;a>&comma; we’ve been hard at work wrapping things up and getting the game ready for launch in a couple of months’ time&period;&&num;8221&semi; Salleh explains&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Salleh was especially excited about the co-op implementation in the game&comma; which will reward people playing together with extra story moments&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;We’re especially keen to see players get a kick out of the co-op narrative style that we’ve developed&comma; whereby each of the game’s four playable characters experiences their own unique flashbacks throughout the game&period;&&num;8221&semi; says Salleh&period; &&num;8220&semi;These memories are designed to fit together as a kind of jig-saw puzzle&comma; so the best way to get the full picture is to discuss them with your buddies&period; Some show dubious details about yourself&comma; while others cast doubt on your squad-mates&period; Who’s the real enemy&quest; What’s going on&quest; What did you see&quest; Don’t worry… single-player is a complete experience in and of itself&comma; but co-op is where this style of narrative really shines&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Off the topic of co-op gameplay&comma; Salleh also explained the developer&&num;8217&semi;s attempt to bring a highly polished product with a feeling of distinction to the PlaySation community when the game is released&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;We’ve also worked hard on bringing a polished&comma; fluid and action-packed third person shooter to the PlayStation community&period; Scourge&colon; Outbreak is often compared to other well-established third person shooters&comma; but we’ve tried to capture a faster-paced&comma; less methodical combat feel than what typifies other examples of the genre&period; Echo Squad’s four members are not simply re-skinned carbon copies of each other&period; Each boasts different special abilities&comma; as well as different stats that affect weapon handling&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;With full single-player and four-player co-op campaign support&comma; plus versus multiplayer modes and maps&comma; we’re confident there will be enough action for everyone&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Salleh finished off by saying jokingly&comma; &&num;8220&semi;Many people assume that developing games in Spain must be all sun&comma; sea and fun&period; Ok&comma; yes… As I write this&comma; it’s a sunny afternoon outside here in Palma — but there’s no time to enjoy it at the moment — we’ve got a game to finish&excl;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>You can view the full post&comma; as well as a plethora of screenshots <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;blog&period;us&period;playstation&period;com&sol;2012&sol;08&sol;06&sol;scourge-outbreak-infecting-psn-soon&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">here<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
