Sonic and friends have gotten a fresh look in addition to an entirely new line of toys, Wii U and 3DS games and a television show. John Cheng the President and COO, Sega of America stated on Sega’s Blog: “We want to ensure that the Sonic brand continues to evolve and appeal to new generations of Sonic fans and this different look introduces a fresh approach that will be at once both familiar and new to consumers”. Sonic Boom is the name of the new TV show that will also include apparel, action figures, plush etc, developed by TOMY. Sonic gamers can look forward to a new generation of the beloved blue hedgehog but will no doubt have high expectations of Sega from now on.
