SEGA’s favorite blue son hasn’t had the easiest of times in the spotlight. Sonic the Hedgehog’s claim to video game fame may be marred with what you could describe as “divisive” titles to say the least, but there’s no denying his television career hasn’t propelled him to at least some sort of strange cult-status among 90s era kids.

Now Sonic and his friends are looking to make a big splash (or boom) for the first time in almost a generation on American television on Cartoon Network. For better or worse, it may just give us the laugh we’ve been dying to have with him…or groan, depending on where your funny bone’s at.

Starting November 8th, Sonic’s returning to the small screen in a weekly capacity to complement his two games of the same brand name later next month, starring alongside Tails (Colleen Villard), Knuckles (Travis Willingham), Cindy Robinson (Amy), Mike Pollock once again as Dr. Eggman, and Nika Futterman as racoon-y newcomer, Sticks. Roger Craig Smith is returning as the titular Hedgehog in question along with Arkham City’s Wally Wingert (The Riddler) voicing one of Eggman’s own wacky sidekick bots, Cubot.

From the looks of the series, there’s quite an atypical wit to be had amidst the typical explosions and slapstick jokes. The HD, high-def graphics are a far cry from the era of DIC cartoons though, and they show in every little hair in Eggman’s delectable mustache. He may win Movember yet. And it looks like maybe poor Tails may have forgotten Lost World already. A sad day indeed.

You may have to paint your calendar blue for the sheer amount of Sonic this November. The show’s two games, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, both release the same day for the Wii U and 3DS this Nov. 11th and Nov. 21st in Europe, coming later to Japan Dec. 18th. The former, Rise of Lyric, comes to us from Big Red Button courtesy of a host of former Naughty Dog designer off of Crash Bandicoot.

Tell us: Will you be tuning into any of these Sonic treats? Or does Sonic still have reason to be looking so blue these days?
