Last year the fate of development group Silicon Knights was unknown and hanging in the balance.  They were best known for their psychological horror survival game Eternal Darkness, which became a surprise sleeper hit for Nintendo’s fledgling Gamecube.  In the game you would play Alexandra Roivas, who happens upon her grandfather’s dismembered body at his mansion and finds a strange book.  Once drawn into the book, Roivas is pulled into a third-person perspective traveling through twelve different time periods in the forms of twelve different people.

Throughout the game certain effects would affect the game play such as the appearance of bugs all over the t.v. screen, a messed up camera view, blood coming from the walls and ceiling, children crying, footsteps, and other machinations to mess with player’s mind and abilities.  A sequel was planned in 2011 rumors spread when Nintendo trademarked the title but the result didn’t pan out due to some problems between Silicon Knights and Epic Games.

Positive news came today as developer Precursor Games revealed a teaser trailer for the possible sequel titled Shadow of the Eternals.  The game is currently in Kickstarter status and Precursor is hoping to rake in $1.5 million in funding for a campaign it will launch on Monday.  Shadow of the Eternals storyline will follow Louisiana police officer Paul Becker who is caught in a war between two cults.  The entire storyline will cover over a 2,500 year span throughout Egypt, Europe, England, Hungary, and the U.S. in a twelve episode epic.  During the game play it says that players will find themselves trying to balance magick, combat, and maintain their sanity during “sanity events”.

Currently the game is set to appear on PC and Wii U only and a release date was not given.  You can check out the official teaser below.
