Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Teases Realistic Flames, Water

<p><em>Shadow of the Tomb Raider<&sol;em> looks remarkable by all accounts&period; However&comma; it&&num;8217&semi;s not just beautiful&period; It&&num;8217&semi;s realistic too&period; That&&num;8217&semi;s according to a behind the scenes look from the developers&period; According to Eidos Montreal&&num;8217&semi;s technical artist Martin Palko&comma; the studio wanted everything to be as realistic as possible&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The developer  released a new video in its ongoing series looking at <em>Shadow of the Tomb Raiders<&sol;em>&&num;8216&semi; team&period; The series also looks at a lot of the game&&num;8217&semi;s visuals&period; This video focused on the fire and water effects&sol;simulation&period; In it&comma; Mr&period; Palko said realism was extremely important for the team&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h3>Temperature in Shadow of the Tomb Raider<&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>In terms of colors&comma; the team even went so far as to measure the temperature of the heat in-game&period; Color changes depending on the heat&period; However&comma; it&&num;8217&semi;s not exactly fantasy physics&period; The team used real-world scientific methodology in order to determine how flames should act and look&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Realism wasn&&num;8217&semi;t just limited to flames&period; Even oil floating on water was subject to a lot of testing and that testing was for a single scene&comma; which goes to show how far the team went to ensure the entire game was as accurate as possible&period; As Mr&period; Palko explains&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;<em>One of our main goals is to be realistic&period;and we use a lot of real world physical formulas in the game&period; For the fire&comma; we actually measure the temperature of the flame and generate the colour based on that&period; There&&num;8217&semi;s a scene where Lara&&num;8217&semi;s wading through a pool of water that has oil floating on the surface&period; We did a lot of work to make that oil very believable&comma; including the sheen and the colour separation on the top of it<&sol;em>&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>You can check out the full video above&period; Other videos in the series are available on the <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;youtube&period;com&sol;user&sol;tombraider&sol;videos"><em>Tomb Raider<&sol;em> Youtube<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; Tomb Raider Youtube&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
