Shawn Levy Directing the Minecraft Movie

<p>The upcoming movie based on a block-based <strong><em>Minecraft<&sol;em> <&sol;strong>video game will be directed by <strong>Shawn Levy<&sol;strong>&period; Levy is mostly known for his lukewarm light comedies that include <em><strong>The Pink Panther<&sol;strong><&sol;em>&comma; <strong><em>Cheaper by the Dozen<&sol;em><&sol;strong> and <strong><em>Night at the Museum<&sol;em><&sol;strong>&period; That doesn&&num;8217&semi;t sound like Warner Brothers is all the focused on this production given the hand-off to such a director&comma; but they&&num;8217&semi;re probably too busy focusing on Harry Potter&comma; LEGO and a dozen DC Comics movies they&&num;8217&semi;re currently producing&period; Even with the project is being produced by Roy Lee of <strong><em>The LEGO Movie<&sol;em><&sol;strong> fame&comma; this almost sounds like a throw-away project just for the marketing tie-in that may just end up getting tossed into theaters as a Spring release&period; I can already see the general public looking down on such a movie claiming it to be a low-rent cash-in on <em><strong>The LEGO Movie<&sol;strong><&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The movie is still in the very early stages of production though&period; Chances are it could be a rare success for Levy&period; We&&num;8217&semi;ll just have to wait and see as no actors or writers are currently attached&period; We&&num;8217&semi;re still not even completely sure the film will be CG or live-action&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;deadline&period;com&sol;2014&sol;10&sol;minecraft-movie-shawn-levy-director-warner-bros-852503&sol;">Deadline<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;
