The upcoming DLC for the indie hit Shovel Knight called Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, has a new trailer and according to Yacht Club Games, we can “expect it very, very soon!”
In this free DLC, you can play as Plague Knight in a whole new story. His quest is to create the Serum Supernus, the Ultimate Potion, but he must extract the ingredients from his once allies, the Knights of the Order of No Quarter.
He uses alchemy as he traverses through the levels, which have new bosses included. There is also an alchemy system that allows you to collect loot to make power ups and equipment. Completely new areas and paths have also been added to the original levels. Yacht Club Games, in addition, have added a Challenge Mode, which, according to the developer’s press kit, has “speed run challenges, boss rematches, and other rule-benders.” There are also some “tricky puzzles.”
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows has finished development, and it is currently in the “submission phase.” The developer has said on their blog, “Once we hear word back, we’ll be able to share a true final release date.”
Shovel Knight is available for 3DS, Wii U, PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. A physical release is also being planned for 3DS, Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One this Fall.
