Sigourney Weaver Turns Down The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables franchise is going for an equal representation with his female focused action bonanza The Expendabelles. The first name that comes to mind for the film was alien killer Sigourney Weaver, one of the greatest female action stars in cinema history. Sadly, it doesn’t look like she’ll be suiting up for this ensemble cast. While she is currently working on Juan Antonio Bayona’s A Monster Calls, she has not state specifically why she turned down the project for either her schedule or preference in the material.

The Expendabelles is written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith and directed by Robert Luketic. Read the synopsis below:

When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator–and instead save the scientist and the day.
