Skullgirls 2nd Encore is finally going to get some content! Annie of the Stars is coming to the PC version of the game. She will be released in Early Access for PC in Early March for $9.99. Then, it’ll be followed by a full release on PlayStation 4 and PC in May. According to Autumn Games and Hidden Variable, the DLC will include a new stage and Story Mode.
However, if you want to save some bucks while getting Annie… You can get the newly-announced Season 1 Pass. That’s right, there’s going to be a Season Pass for Skullgirls 2nd Encore. You know what that means, more characters are coming to the game! In fact, it’s going to be 3 characters in addition to Annie herself. All 3 of the characters will be released throughout 2021 and 2022. Every character will be available for purchase individually.
Annie Release Date?
Annie of the Stars is coming to Skullgirls in March. However, you might have noticed that there’s no exact release date. Apparently, the development team cannot commit to a specific date due to some external platform dependencies surrounding the release of the update. While that’s a problem, at least we’ll get the character in March… On PC.
Yes, unfortunately, the other platforms will have to wait a bit before they get Annie. In fact, Hidden Variable has confirmed that they are not planning to release Annie on the Xbox 360; PS3; and PS Vita versions of the game. Due to Nintendo Switch technical complications, Annie will not be immediately avilable on that platform either. However, the team will provide an update as soon as they have an updated timetable on Switch availability. So, don’t lose hope!
Season Pass Details
As mentioned before, Annie of the Stars will be part of the Skullgirls 2nd Encore Season 1 Pass. The Season Pass will include the following components:
- New Playable Characters
- Annie
- TBA Character #2
- TBA Character #3
- TBA Character #4
- Season Pass 1 Exclusive Palette Pack
- Skullgirls OST (Including Annie track)
- Skullgirls Digital Art Compendium (fully updated)
Every character DLC will include the new character (duh); a new stage (complete with BGM!); 25+ color palettes; and their own Story Mode chapter. If you’re wondering, yes! Every DLC character’s Story Mode chapter will be voice acted. Unfortunately, since the team is planning to record all of the DLC Story Modes at the same time, Annie’s will launch without VO. However, a Voice Over update will be added at a later date.
While the unannounced characters have already been chosen, Autumn Games is exploring ways in which players who purchase Season 1 Pass can contribute to their release order (a voting system, for example). Depending on how well the Annie downloadable content and Season 1 Pass does, Autumn Games hopes to add more free stuff to the Season 1 Pass list of content, including a fifth new character.
