Activision’s newest IP, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures, appears to have done much better than many had anticipated. The game’s sequel, Skylanders Giants, was announced by Activision on February 7, 2012, and the release date has officially been set for October 19, 2012 in the UK, while the US release is scheduled for October 21, 2012.
Many reviewers discounted the original as another of Activision’s ploys to gain the attention of children worldwide. Well, apparently it succeeded. Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures reportedly held the spotlight by “generating more cash than any other gaming franchise” between January and the end of April.
