SNES Games Are Coming to the New 3DS

<p>SNES games were announced today for the New 3DS and New 3DS XL systems during one of the first big Nintendo Directs of the year&period; There was much that was talked about during the Direct and we have you covered&semi; for Wii U news click <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;marchs-nintendo-direct-wii-u-highlights&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">here<&sol;a> and for 3DS news click <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;3ds-highlights-todays-nintendo-direct&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">here<&sol;a>&period; One of the biggest surprises that came out of the Direct was the announcement that starting today&comma; Nintendo would be adding SNES titles to the eShop for the New 3DS family of systems&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<figure id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;101051" aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-101051" style&equals;"width&colon; 559px" class&equals;"wp-caption aligncenter"><img class&equals;" wp-image-101051" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2016&sol;03&sol;maxresdefault-3-300x169&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Nintendo&comma; Super Metroid" width&equals;"559" height&equals;"297" &sol;><figcaption id&equals;"caption-attachment-101051" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Nintendo&comma; Super Metroid<&sol;figcaption><&sol;figure>&NewLine;<p>The first batch of titles that launched today were <em>Super Mario World<&sol;em>&comma; <em>F-Zero<&sol;em> and <em>Pilotwings<&sol;em>&comma; which some of you may recognize as the key titles that launched alongside the Super Nintendo many years ago&period; On March 24 they will be adding another set of gems&comma; including <em>Donkey Kong Country<&sol;em>&comma; <em>Mario Kart<&sol;em>&comma; and <em>Earthbound<&sol;em>&period; The last batch that they have announced&comma; for April 14&comma; include some very popular SNES titles&semi; <em>The Legend of Zelda&colon; A Link to the Past<&sol;em> and <em>Super Metroid<&sol;em>&comma; as well as <em>Donkey Kong Country 2&colon; Diddy&&num;8217&semi;s Quest<&sol;em>&period; The New 3DS hardware enables something called Perfect Pixel Mode&comma; allowing players to play the games in their original resolution&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Little is known in regards to future releases&comma; but the SNES has a much beloved catalogue of games&comma; and hopefully Nintendo will find some more classics to please gamers&period; This is a great move by Nintendo&comma; as there has been little reason to pick up a New 3DS outside of wanting to play <em>Xenoblade Chronicles<&sol;em> or have the additional analogue nub&period; This could be reason for many to finally upgrade from their older systems as many regard certain SNES titles as some of the greatest games of all time&period; There was plenty of great news from the Nintendo Direct&comma; but this one was a stunner and should help Nintendo move some more units&comma; even as they recently <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;engadget&period;com&sol;2016&sol;02&sol;26&sol;nintendo-cuts-forecast-3ds-sales-short&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">cut their sales forecasts<&sol;a> as 3DS sales have been falling&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; Nintendo Direct<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
