SNK, one of a few developers making fighting games since the 1990s and still doing so to this day. With series like Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters, they know what they’re doing, and are going to keep doing it. That being said, we’re here to talk about one of their classic games on NeoGeo Pocket getting such a treatment.
Capcom vs SNK, a short-lived collection of games that crossed over characters like Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter with the likes of Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, of King of Fighters fame. The series’ only portable outing, Match of the Millennium, has been re-released a few times over the past few years, and today is no different. It even has a promotional trailer to boot, which you can watch below.
Capcom vs. SNK’s Classic Handheld Fighting, Once Again on Steam
SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium collects 26 of both companies’ iconic fighting game characters, spanning games like Fatal Fury, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Samurai Shodown. Game modes include Single, Tag, or Team-based fighting, altering how many characters you bring with you or fight against. Additionally, there are three different battle styles you can choose from, each bringing its own gameplay style to the core game mechanics.
This game also packs several other modes for players to enjoy. Survival pits you against an endless horde of computer-controlled opponents until you are defeated, and Time Attack also has you essentially speed-running the arcade mode. The game also allows you to play local versus matches, no additional consoles needed.
