Song Licenses Expiring on Rock Band DLC Store

Although the series has ceased producing new games and new plastic instruments for you to act out your rock fantasies, many gamers are still heavily playing numerous of the Rock Band titles, enjoying the vast music library that comes with it. This library however, is slowly expiring and being removed…

In a Facebook post, Harmonix explained further saying:
“When licensing songs for release for any platform, including DLC, agreements include term limits on how long the content may be sold on a given platform. This isn’t specific to Rock Band – it’s something that exists in pretty much all licensing agreements.”

The company continued to offer more of an explanation by adding:
“Now, over five years since the release of the first batch of Rock Band DLC, we’re reaching the end of some of the earliest licenses we secured. Our Music Team has been hard at work extending these licenses to make sure that this has as small an impact on the community as possible, but there may be a very limited number of songs that will no longer be offered for new purchases in the Rock Band store.”

Harmonix then went onto promising to post more information when it becomes available about re-licensing songs to try and keep the community happy.

Whatever the situation however, we suggest downloading your entire library and keeping it on a hard drive/memory unit to ensure you will always have access to it.
