“What do you get when you mix fire and ice?” SEGA asks us? Well, you apparently get…more fire and ice? At least, it does by all accounts of Sonic’s latest handheld adventure.
No more than a half a year since its debut on the Wii U, the Sonic Boom brand is hitting 3DS later this year in what’s surely not a George R.R. Martin epic.
Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice will feature yours truly running around on icy speedways shooting fire at cold objects with his friends – including the now playable Amy Rose. The game appeals to the 2D style of last year’s handheld companion to the Wii U’s Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and seems to feature roughly the same gameplay, along with the added fire powers.
The trailer below, released by Nintendo, features a variety of pre-rendered cutscenes alluding to something about the game’s plot, if at all different than the simple matter of fire and ice. Eggman’s here, and so are the rest of Sonic Boom’s main cast minus Shadow: Tails, Knuckles, Sonic, Amy, and Sticks. There. Will. Be. Gags.
Some of us rather liked Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric when it released. Some of us did not. But are you interested in Fire and Ice later this year? Let us know in the comments below!
