Sonic The Hedgehog goes back to its classic roots in Sonic Mania. The game is set for a release in Spring 2017 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. Sorry, Wii U owners.
At the Sonic 25th Anniversary event, SEGA announced that the chilli dog loving hedgehog will be coming back in a classic style. The game is being developed in collaboration with SEGA, Christian Whitehead (developer of Sonic 1 Remastered, Sonic 2 Remastered, and Sonic CD on iOS and Android), Headcannon (Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on iOS and Android, and Spinelash), and PagodaWest Games (Major Magnet, Snap Pals, and Circle Frenzy).
The game will allow you to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles in revitalised versions of classic stages and completely new zones and bosses.
If you like the trailer theme, you might be happy to know that it’s available to stream on Spotify. The song is called Checkpoint and it’s from Nitro Fun and Hyper Potions.
At the event, SEGA also teased Project Sonic 2017 from Sonic Team, which revealed Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic in a new adventure as they build some sort of resistance. This game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and most interestingly, NX. The 2017 project is scheduled sometime in Holiday 2017.
Sonic also received a trailer for LEGO Dimensions as he runs through Green Hill Zone and other worlds in LEGO form. Seriously, seeing Sonic and The Doctor from Doctor Who is something I thought I’d never see in my life… Gaming has become very strange.
