Sonic the Hedgehog Getting the 3D Classic Treatment

The original Sonic The Hedgehog game is being re-released as a 3D classic title on the Nintendo eShop in Japan next week, joining titles such as Excitebike, Kirby’s Adventure and Kid Icarus in the 3D Classics library.

In addition to this however, Sega have confirmed that they will be implementing the save state system which allows you to save wherever you like throughout the game in addition to also allowing you to use the spin dash ability as seen in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. This option can be disabled through the main menu however.

The original Sonic the Hedgehog title has been ported to pretty much every platform available today which includes the PC, XBLA, PSN, Wii Ware, iOS Devices and many more. The title was first released way back in 1991 on the Sega Genesis and saw the world take sides with either Mario or the blue blur himself.
