Sony Files New Resistance Trademark, New Game Rumored

We could be unloading even more bullets into the Chimera menace if new reports bear fruit. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has filed a trademark for “Resistance” game software, spurring speculation of a new entry in the Playstation exclusive FPS and third-person shooter series.

The news comes to us thanks to NeoGAF user Rosti, who spotted the trademark filing earlier this week.

Resistance: Fall of Man was notably trademarked by Sony back in 2007 and will expire in March of next year. Whether or not this new trademark registration is a signal that we’re getting a Resistance 4 remains to be seen.

If the series does see a sequel, it will be the first since Resistance: Burning Skies on PS Vita in 2012 and likely not made by developer Insomniac Games.

Insomniac, which created the Resistance franchise in 2006, has admittedly moved on from series in recent years. Since then, they’ve gone on to make new IP Sunset Overdrive with Microsoft on Xbox One – a game which we thought was rather fun ourselves.

Tell us: would you play another Resistance game?
