There were a world of rumors last week in the gaming news, and one of them was that Sony were looking to acquire a well known cloud based streaming service for their systems. Many speculated that they were going to partner with the likes of Onlive and some mentioned Steam could be the company, after they had cross platform play with PC users in highly acclaimed Portal 2.

But rumor’s eventualy get ironed out and truth hits home. Sony is looking to allow PlayStation 3 and possible PlayStation VITA owners to have the liberty to go back and play their favorite PS2 and PS1 titles via streaming. And who will be the service provider for this Joyous news. That’s right it’s Gaikai.

Sony and Gaikai are refusing to comment on this topic, but I’m sure we will hear more new’s in relation to this story from this year’s E3 press conference next week. So stay tuned for more cloud streaming news here in coming days.
