Sony’s NGP Given a Name and leaked Photo of Device

Sony plans on officially rolling out it’s next generation portable device and successor to the PSP later next month at the E3 2011 conference. But with a simple leaked photo we may already know the true name of the next generation device which has been code named NPG by Sony. You’ll see in the photo that the device is named PSVita, PS of course stands for Playstation while Vita is the world for life in Italian. It has been rumored for a while that PSvita would indeed be the name of the device but it wasn’t until the leaked photo that it semi-confirmed the rumor to be accurate.

A further indication is that a  third party company, rumored to be working with Sony, has registered the domain name playstation.nl and playstationvita.com. Another sign that Sony is trying to buy up domains related to the product in an attempt to control the roll out and they’re using third party companies possibly in an attempt to keep the whole process under wraps.

Of course much of this is still rumor and speculation and we should learn more about the Playstation Vita, otherwise known as NGP for now, at next months E3 2011 conference. Stay tuned.
