The Berlin based studio Yager Development has announced Dreadnought, an aerial combat game set in the distant future. Dreadnought sees players taking on the role of a mercenary commander in charge of a battleship armada. There is a variety of different spaceships to choose from and almost every part can be customised, including their armour, appearance, engines, abilities and crew members.
Whilst Yager is most famous for Spec Ops: The Line, the studio first began life creating space flight simulators. C0-founder Mathias Wiese told IGN that ”Dreadnought harkens back to the PC space combat game we developed when we first started out. In the years since, we’ve been developing and testing some incredible ideas that now perfectly come together in Dreadnought.”
Currently there is no gameplay footage for the game but we do know that it runs on Unreal Engine 4 and is expected to be a free to play title. Dreadnought will enter public beta testing early next year.
