The latest sales figures from Japan have shown that Splatoon has got off to a very good start. According to Media Create, Nintendo shipped 148,000 copies of the game in its first week and over 144,000 of them have already been sold. For a new IP on the Wii U, those are very good numbers. In fact, this is the Wii U’s fourth best software launch in Japan.

The release of Splatoon helped the Wii U become the best selling console last week, with over 17,000 units sold. Nintendo also sold over 100,000 Splatoon amiibo figures.

The PlayStation 4 version of The Witcher 3 also did well, selling 22,000 copies in its second week. This bring its total sales to 88,000 and it should cross the 100,000 barrier in the next couple of weeks.
