So far, Star Citizen has raised millions in funding. However, now it’s looking for more money. For just $27,000, players can get an add-on pack for the game. That being said, it costs $1,000 just to see the purchase page. The pack, called the Legatus Pack, must have a lot for $28,000, right? Right.
Most Ships
Cloud Imperium Games are offering players 117 ships, and 163 extras. For the record, that’s most of the games planned ships. You can check out everything that Cloud Imperium Games is offering in Star Citizen‘s $27,000 pack here. Players can purchase the pack here; however, unless you’ve already spent $1,000 on the game, you’ll just see a 404 error page.
The Legatus Pack comes with a host of extra crews for your ships, as well as expansions for those ships. According to reports, most of the ships in-game can be upgraded. This would normally take a lot of work to achieve. However, with the Legatus Pack, most of those expansions are already unlocked.
Over Funded
To date, Cloud Imperium Games has raised about $185 million in funding. According to reports, $35 million of that was raised in 2017 alone. The developers have been raising the funds for the game for years. It seems like they only reach a certain amount of development before going back to fundraising.
At the moment, it’s unclear as to what the studio has been spending the money on; surely, the sci-fi strategy game can’t cost almost $200 million. However, with the Legatus Pack, it looks like the studio will go far beyond that fundraising mark. We’ll have to wait and see how long this latest round of fundraising will sustain the game’s development.
So far, Star Citizen doesn’t have a release date. It also doesn’t have a clear timeline as to when we’ll see more of the game.
