Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday Announced

Trekkies who are fans of the original series of Star Trek will be happy to hear that Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday, the next expansion for the MMO will be focused on Captain James Tiberius Kirk’s adventures.

Just like the original show, you will be able to search for new life and new civilizations in this particular timeline. Taurus VII and Edren are a few of the multiple locations that are included in this expansion. In addition, five new Original Series starships will be playable, which includes the Daedalus class Science Vessel and of course the original Enterprise that started it all. Walter Koenig and Chris Doohan (James Doohan’s son) will also be voicing Chekov and Scotty in Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday.

Star Trek Online is a free-to-play title which allows you to create a character and command a Federation starship, become a Kilingon Warrior, or helm a Romulan Republic Warbird. The last series to be included in the game was Star Trek: Voyager (through the Star Trek Online: Delta Rising) , and it featured the characters of Nine, The Doctor, Harry Kim, Neelix and Tuvok. This new expansion continues the content that has been provided for over 6 years.

The executive producer of Star Trek Online, Steve Ricossa said in the press release, “The 50th Anniversary of Star Trek presents a unique opportunity and challenge for our team, to faithfully venture back in time to one of the most iconic science-fiction settings and eras in television history. Combining Star Trek: The Original Series with Star Trek Online allows us to take players on some new and unique adventures in a time period that is beloved by fans.”

Star Trek began in 1966 and is now celebrating its 50th anniversary. The series has recently been known for its big budget movie franchise with Star Trek: Beyond releasing this Summer. The last Star Trek television series that was released is Star Trek: Enterprise, which ended in 2005.
