Star Wars Battlefront February Update is Live

Electronic Arts, Star Wars Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront has been an undeniable success for EA and DICE, which launched in November and has sold well over 13 million copies. While many have pointed out shortcomings in the depth of the game, developers DICE have been at work constantly tweaking gameplay and adding free content. The latest update has launched today and has added more to the game on top of last months update, which added private matches amongst other fixes and additions.

There are a number of highlights from the update, all of which can be read in the patch notes here, which include an all new mission map, “Survival in the Ice Caves” which of course takes place on Hoth. An entirely new Hoth map, “Twilight” is also available on the Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point, Fighting Squadron, Drop Zone and Heroes vs. Villains game modes. The Turning Point mode as well can be played on all large scale maps, and no longer just on the Jakku map. Additionally there is a new setting for film grain, that can be found in the video settings to add an extra bit of film authenticity to the Battlefront experience.

While DICE made some gameplay tweaks earlier in the month, they have added another round in this update. Some of the biggest standouts include primary weapons doing an extra 10 percent damage to air vehicles, and the hit box on the A-Wing being increased, which should help both players on the ground and in the air. Additionally the between rounds timer has been dropped from 30 seconds to 20 seconds, which definitely helps speed up the time spent waiting between rounds. There have been a number of other bug fixes and weapon balancing, all of which should help the overall Battlefront experience.

Hopefully we will continue to see the free content and updates such as this from DICE, on top of the paid DLC, the first of which is set to drop in March.
