Star Wars Battlefront is Getting a Beta This October

In a time not so far away, you’ll get to play Star Wars Battlefront before it lands this November.

Publisher EA has announced that the game will be getting a beta across all three platforms – Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC – in “early October.” The beta will include early access to Battlefront‘s 40-player Walker Assault mode on Hoth in which both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker will be unlockable characters. In addition, the beta will let you try out Tatooine’s Survival Mode where you can push back waves of Imperial troops as Rebel soldiers.

A new mode, “Drop Zone,” will also be included in the beta which EA says it’ll explain in further detail “in the weeks ahead” before the beta’s launch.

Unfortunately, all of your in-game progress (achievements, characters, character data) will not carry over into the full game. You will, however, likely run into plenty of “errors/defects,” EA warned.

There was additionally no mention of the beta being a pre-order bonus, so for all intents and purposes, it appears the beta will be an open beta unless otherwise stated.

Unlike some of its peers this holiday, EA also announced that Battlefront will boast a “Companion” app for Android and i0s. One of the app’s functions will reportedly feature “strategic card game” called Base Command which you’ll be able to play on the Battlefront website to earn credits for things like Star Cards, weapons, “and more” in Battlefront. The Battlefront Companion app will also let gamers track their in-game progress, compare stats, and customize weapon load-outs.

Star Wars: Battlefront launches this Nov. 17th, a week following Fallout 4 and a month before Disney’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters this Dec. 18th, the latter of which EA will also be releasing tie-in DLC for.
