In case you somehow missed it, Star Wars Celebration happened this weekend in Orlando, Florida, and with it came two huge trailers. One was obviously the first footage of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, but for gaming fans, the big one was Star Wars Battlefront II. You can watch the trailer above and get a feel for the scale and setting for the new game, which unlike its predecessor, will feature a full-fledged, original single-player story. Star Wars Battlefront II will launch on November 17th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Battlefront II follows Commander Iden Versio, who serves as leader of Inferno Squad – the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit. Taking place from the Battle of Endor onward, this is an original story that will lead up to the rise of the First Order. Your adventure will span over 30 years, with plenty of opportunity to run into many of the series’ iconic characters. The trailer above shows many of them, such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, and Rey. These hero characters will be avilable in the all-new multiplayer as well, with the option to even pit them against each other.
Despite there being a campaign now, Battlefront II will also feature the usual online play that will allow up to 40 players to compete in galactic warfare. New starfighters will be available to players and a larger arsenal of weapons, which also accompany the game’s new modes, which will be announced at a later date. Those who pre-order the game will have access to “a whole range of rewards, including exclusive Star Wars: The Last Jedi™-themed looks for Kylo Ren and Rey, an ability modifier that upgrades the Millennium Falcon, epic ability modifiers for Rey and Kylo Ren, and more. Players purchasing the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition receive upgraded versions of all Trooper classes, a A280-CFE blaster rifle instant weapon unlock, an enhanced scope modification, and an epic ability modifier.”
If you’re looking to play the game early, EA Access members will get to start on November 9th, while pre-ordering the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will give you access to the game on November 14th. Everyone else will just have to wait until November 17th. Let us know in the comments below if you’re excited for this new Battlefront title, and if you’ll be picking it up day one!
