REPORT: Star Wars Is Almost Ready For A New Han Solo

What do you get when you find Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, and Alden Ehrenreich in a room? Well before today, you’d get a group of (mostly) great actors, but now you have the shortlist of actors in the running to play Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff..

The Hollywood Reporter reportedly knows about the shortlist for the iconic character originally played by Harrison Ford. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directing team behind The Lego Movie and 21 & 22 Jump Street, are set to direct the “solo” film from the ever growing Star Wars franchise. It’s up to see whether or not the duo can bring their signature humor to the film from a screenplay by Lawrence & Jon Kasdan.

Shooting is expected to begin in early 2017, so the announcement of the actor to play him should come within the next few months. Taron Egerton, known for his role in Kingsman: The Secret Service, was a lot of fun in the spy flick as well as being entertaining in the mediocre, Legend. Alden Ehrenreich was absolutely fantastic in this year’s Hail, Caesar! Jack Reynor is the only worrying cast member coming off of Transformers: Age of Extinction and a fairly mute part in Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth. No matter who is chosen, there will be a lot of controversy, so this will be a story to keep your eyes on.

The Young Han Solo spin off is set to be released May 25th 2018.
