It’s been a disappointing start to the new year as both HMV and Blockbuster have faced immense difficulties in saving themselves from a financial crisis, praying for a buyer to emerge or a new business strategy to save the jobs of the many loyal employees who serve the company.

Thankfully for those who are still at Blockbuster stores that time has arrived! Gordon Brothers have purchased the company (Blockbuster UK) and will keep 264 stores open which equates to 2000 staff remaining in employment.

Frank Morton, CEO of Gordon Brothers stated; “We acknowledge the industry is in transition; we know that we have a challenge ahead but there is still a market to be served.”

Is your local Blockbuster store staying open?
