Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton.
The trailer features a special introduction from former N.W.A members Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, with the duo returning back to the group’s hometown of Compton, California.
The Game, real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, also makes an appearance during the opening of the trailer, as the rapper highlights the influence that N.W.A had on his own music career.
Of course, a trailer for a N.W.A biopic wouldn’t be complete without two famous tracks from the Straight Outta Compton album: “F**k tha Police” and “Straight Outta Compton.”
Sharing the namesake of N.W.A’s debut album, Straight Outta Compton will depict the rise and fall of one of the most notorious, well-known hip-hop groups of all time.
Directed by F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job & Friday) and starring Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, Straight Outta Compton is scheduled for release on August 14th, 2015.
