This Comic Con saw our first onscreen introduction to Batman and Superman’s pre-Justice League beat-down. Now we have some insight as to what Batman’s baddies are doing while the Dark Knight’s away. Just your usual murderous mischief, apparently – in tune to opera music, no less.
As it was first leaked online and later posted by Warner Bros., the trailer for director David Ayers’ Suicide Squad stars the DC Universe’s best/worst criminals: Deadshot, a world-class assassin and sniper; Katana, a ninja; soldier-man Rick Flag; The Flash’s self-explanatory Captain Boomerang; and the Joker’s main squeeze, the short shorts- wearing Harley Quinn. Enchantress, Slipknot, and Batman’s Killer Croc is in it for some reason too.
So where’s Jared Leto’s all-new Mr. J, you say? Right where you expect him to be, electric thingamabobs in hand. What a shock.
Set in the timeframe of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and releasing just a few months afterwards, Suicide Squad shows us what it’s got Aug. 5th, 2016. Joke’s on us if a black cape doesn’t show up at least once.
