She’s fast, she’s super, and she’s hiding in plain sight – yes, she’s CBS’s Supergirl! Not be left out of TV’s superhero race, CBS is launching its very own super heroine series starring Krypton’s other all-American speeding bullet: Kara Zor-El.

For those of you who don’t know, she’s the cousin of Earth’s Kal-El (i.e. Superman) and she’s been in more than a few series already. Superman: The Animated Series, Justive League: Unlimited, Smallville, and even a few games here and there have featured Superman’s kick-ass kin in some form or another. This time, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is the underpaid and overlooked intern at a news station owned by Cat Grant (Calista Flockart) and the world’s most unsuspecting super heroine after a downed plane and a lot of cameras call her into action.

Joining her are her adopted sister, Alexandra Danvers (Chyler Leigh), the Daily Planet’s own Jimmy “James” Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), and CIA agent Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) who’s more than a little interested in what could be earth’s newest threat. Helen Slater of 1984’s Supergirl film and Dean Cain of Lois and Clark fame are also attached to appear in undisclosed roles.

CBS’s released a full six-minute preview of the series, due out this November for a full season, for a rather lengthy look at just what it’s like filling Superman’s shoes (We still don’t know what the story is about him yet). Needless to say, capes, skirts, and Taylor Swift tunes all go together swimmingly.

And if you thought the footage above seemed pretty familiar, you might want to compare and contrast The Avengers‘ own Scarlet Johansson in her Saturday Night Live skit just weeks ago. We’ll let you decide which studio’s getting girls right.

CBS’s Supergirl will also be debuting against Gotham‘s second season on FOX, Monday nights at 8/7 Central. Which will you be tuning into, if either? Let us know in the comments below.
