Survey Reveals Percentage Of UK Households That Home A Games Console

A recent survey has delivered a greater insight into the video game industry in the UK as it discovers exactly how many video game consoles are living in homes across the UK whilst also discovering other interesting information which we can relate to.

The survey, commissioned by Deloitte’s Media & Entertainment, found that 50% of UK households now have a video game console inside, representing a 3% increase since 2011. The survey, conducted in December last year asked 2,085 people aged 14-75 for their opinions.

Delving deeper into the research shows that 83% of 14-17 year olds have a video game console in their house whilst only 60% of 18-44 year olds have a video game console in their homes.

For those aged 45-54, only 52% have a games console whilst, the final figure found, shows that 21% of those aged 55+ have a game console in their homes.

We’ll leave you with one last interesting find from the survey however, which was that 81% of consumers prefer to make their purchases of video games in physical form as opposed to digital. With Nintendo revealing that digital sales for retail games from the Nintendo eShop have been increasing and Microsoft revealing that it now has 46 million members, is this going to decline in the next console generation or remain the same?
