Tales of Hearts R is a JPRG and the first entry from the TALES OF franchise to reach the PS Vita in Europe and Australasia. The game’s main character is Kor Meteor who is raised in a small fishing village by his grandfather. Under the tutelage of his grandfather, Kor’s fighting skills increase which earns him a special gift from his grandfather. Kor has received a special weapon known as a Soma. In order to harness the power of a Soma, handlers must contain impressive amounts of Spiria, which is “the source of all life from which the human mind and will are derived.”
The game features a storyline which is sure to pull at gamers’ heart strings. Kor encounters a woman named Kohaku Hearts who has been placed under a spell by a witch. During Kor’s attempt to lift the spell, he breaks the Spiria Core of Kohaku. Kor now has to find a way to make Kohaku’s Spiria whole again. As gamers set out on Kora’s journey, they will have a familiar but unique battle system at their disposal. In Tales of Hearts R, the combat system has it roots in the “Linear Motion Battle System” but at the same time introducing the “Aerial Chase Linear Motion Battle System.” The new mechanics will allow players to destroy enemies with fluidity and fast-paced action than ever before.
”The TALES OF franchise has experienced incredible fan support and positive reception due to the fantastic artwork, storytelling and combat systems that the developers have been able to deliver over the past 15 years,” said Herve Hoerdt, Vice President of IP Strategy at BANDAI NAMCO Games Europe. “With a proven track record of bringing quality RPGs out to the West, we are confident that PS Vita users can really look forward to hours of solid entertainment from Tales of Hearts R.”
