Team-Shooter Paladins Enters Closed Beta

Paladins, the newest title from Hi-Rez Studios, has been released into a closed beta on PC.

The fantasy game, which is listed as a team-based, first-person shooter, notably utilizes a collectible-card-based progression system to allow players a variety of strategical advantages in online competitive matches. Players control a champion armed with a primary weapon, character-unique combat abilities, and a customizable deck of cards which create opportunities throughout the match. Gameplay sees players join teams and capture tactical points on a large map to assist in moving a “siege engine” across the map to the opposing teams gate.

Gamers who may wish to join the closed beta can visit the official website to request a free invite, though instant access to the beta can be purchased for $19.99. This purchase also includes a Fiery Warhorse mount and 20 card chests. The beta will only run on Paladins’ servers from 9am PT to 9pm PT, though 24-hour testing is said to begin as soon as possible.

Hi-Rez Studios COO Todd Harris shared this: “We’ve been giving gamers hands-on play time with Paladins at select events around the world since we unveiled it in August, and the response so far has been incredible. We’re excited to get the game out into the community so we can fine-tune it further into a truly spectacular multiplayer experience.”

Paladins is set to launch on PC and current generation consoles as a free-to-play game in 2016. For more information on Paladins, click here.
